Dr. Thomas F. Gerrets Jr. D.M.D., P.A.

Ridgeland, MS

Why do I need root canal retreatment?

In some cases a tooth that has had root canal treatment fails to heal properly. Occasionally the tooth becomes painful or infected months or years later. If your tooth has failed to heal or has developed other issues you may consider retreatment.

How does retreatment of a root canal save my tooth?

Dr. Tom Gerrets will reopen your tooth to gain access and remove the root canal material. Medication will be placed in the canals and the tooth will be resealed. After 3 months, you will return to Dr. Gerrets to flush the medication and refill the root canal with root canal material. This process is used to heal abscesses and restore tooth functionality.
